NAPLAN

A huge congratulations to our Year 3 students for their participation in the NAPLAN. All students should be extemely proud of themselves for the amazing effort they put in.

Literacy

This term students have been learning about the features and structure of narratives and have created some exciting narratives of their own. They then move onto learning about different persuasive texts and this will continue in Term 2. Students have been learning about different persuasive techniques such as rehetorical questions, emotive language, modality words and fact and opinion. They have been writing persuasive letters including some or all of these techniques.

 

Maths

This term in Maths, students developed their understanding of Australian money and its real-world applications. They learned to identify and order Australian coins and notes by value, use problem-solving strategies to answer money-related questions, and calculate change to the nearest five cents. Students also applied estimation and rounding skills to financial situations and explored financial planning through real-world scenarios. By engaging in hands-on activities, they strengthened their ability to make informed financial decisions and solve money problems with confidence.

 

Humanities 

This term in Humanities, students explored Indigenous perspectives on sustainability and caring for Country. They learned about traditional land management practices, such as back burning, and how First Nations peoples have sustainably used natural resources like bush foods for thousands of years. Through discussions and activities, students developed a deeper appreciation for the ways Indigenous knowledge continues to play a vital role in caring for the environment today.

 

Cross Country

Congratulations to all the students who represented our school in the Cross Country on Tuesday. All students displayed the school values of being respectful, responsible and exceptional. Everyone tried their absolute best and should be super proud of their efforts.

Well done everyone, you did Moriac Primary proud!
