Prep

We cannot believe that Term 1 is almost over! It has been such a fun term. It has been amazing to see how far the students have come in such a short amount of time. Great work to everyone! 

Literacy 

In Literacy, we have been learning about different letters and what sounds these represent. We have so far explored: a, i, m, s, t, n, o, p, c, h, g, b, d, e, f and v. Students have been saying each sound and building words. We are beginning to read books that have these sounds in them, so students can begin reading words and having success when reading.

Students have been using the letter-sound knowledge to begin writing words and sentences. We have explored parts of a sentence, capital letters at the beginning, spaces and full stops at the end. Students have been adding lots of details to their pictures, through different objects and colours. 

Students have explored parts of books, understanding they have a beginning, middle (problem) and end (solution). They have practiced putting parts of books in the correct order and creating there own stories. 

Maths 

In Maths, students have been exploring numbers to 20. They have been showing what these numbers look like using physical materials and drawings. Students have explored number lines and how they can show which numbers are missing on the number line. 

We continued to explore the days of the week, remembering the order, which days we attend school and which days are the weekend. We ask students to say what day it is today, what day it was yesterday and what day it will be tomorrow. 

Humanities 

We have been learning about Geography. Students have been exploring which places are special to them. Students spoke about why these places are important to them, we spoke about how these places make us feel and memories we have of these places. 

We also celebrated Harmony Week. Students explored lots of different books and had conversations about how it is important for us to be inclusive, even when someone is different. Look at some of our creations below:
