Garden Club

Mrs Heather Dear

In the garden, under the sun’s hot gaze,

we start slow, as summer’s heat does blaze.

Young seedlings planted, roots just take their hold,

in new potting mix, the story unfolds.

With masks on our faces, we handle with care,

adding soil and love, a garden to share.

The weather grows cooler, a breeze through the air,

now thriving our plants, they flourish and fare.

Heirloom cucumbers, variegated and round,

crunchy delights in the earth they are found.

Yellow squash glows in the soft autumn light,

and carrots, once small, are now ready to bite.

Oregano drying, a fragrant delight

Preserving the harvest, to keep 6 months’ worth of nights.

Café Culture students’ skills are refined,

Year ten’s skills in sustainability intertwined.

A compost tumbler turns waste into gold,

no longer to landfill, it’s a story retold.

Reducing emissions, each twist and each spin,

helping the planet, the world we live in.

At Greensborough College, we care for the Earth,

applying our knowledge, a measure of worth.

Preparing for Autumn, with harvest so sweet,

a garden of bounty, a sustainable feat.
