Explore Night Promotes Innovation and Creativity in Teaching and Learning

Explore Night took place on April 1st at Greensborough College and was a resounding success. With teachers and students preparing interactive displays and a rich tapestry of subject offerings for our prospective students and families thinking of entering the college in 2026 the showcase highlighted the innovation and creativity offered across the college’s curriculum.

As the college prepares for a smooth transition into rolling out Curriculum 2.0 it’s important to note the work of all the learning area leaders and college teachers who have been updating and innovating curriculum in 2025. The Explore showcase not only reflects the longstanding subject offerings at Greensborough College, but also the new and emerging subjects that bring creativity and innovation to the forefront such as the Enrichment Program where students can elect to choose from a wide range of enriching offerings.

Another pertinent event central to the ongoing refinement and enrichment of curriculum offerings at Greensborough College was the recent term 1 curriculum day. Staff collaborated in teams throughout the day to sequence the design and delivery of Curriculum 2.0. Teams were grouped in learning areas throughout the day and tasked with the goal of mapping core skills and knowledge across the curriculum in alignment with the 2025 Annual Implementation plan as well as the Curriculum 2.0 Achievement Standards to ensure every student at Greensborough College receives rich learning opportunities linked to their individual point of need.  With a strong focus on embedding the capabilities across the curriculum which include:

  • Critical and Creative Thinking
  • Ethical Capability
  • Intercultural Capability
  • Personal and Social Capability

Teaching staff presented a mini show-and-tell update of the curriculum they had worked on for the day and the innovative ideas they were embedding into the programs for 2026. Staff showcased some innovative ideas around embedding more Indigenous perspectives into their programs as well as technology and critical and creative thinking. The Resilience Project finished the day with Louis Turner at the helm and staff were immersed in some incredible resources and teaching and learning programs centred around mindfulness and gratitude. Overall, a wonderful day of teaching and learning content being shared and a showcase of collaboration across the college.
