Our first steps to the Great Plunge

2026 has commenced at St George’s with much to celebrate. Today’s ‘Silly Socks for the Summit’ was the first of our yearlong fundraiser events for Anglicare, which will culminate in a staff and student team taking part in the Great Plunge in Central Park – the first time we have ever been involved in this annual spectacular. Please donate generously to this worthy cause.

We have already seen our 2026 School Theme of ‘Embrace, Excel, Empower’ come alive through a variety of important start of the year events which have seen us embracing the diversity and welcoming acceptance that epitomises the St George’s Anglican Grammar School Community. The Year 12 Ball at Mandoon Estate, our unique school band ‘Electrocity’ performing as part of Perth Fringe World and the Year 7 Camp in the Swan Valley have all showcased the many different features of an outstanding St George’s education.

Year 7s

This year 150 new students joined us at St George’s across Years 7 – 12. This included our largest group of Year 7s to date joining the St George’s Family to commence their High School journey. As Principal, I extend a very warm welcome to each and every new student and their families. I hope that you quickly discover your place within our community and make connections that will last a lifetime. The sense of belonging is a strong one here at St George’s and I am quietly confident that you will quickly come to love our fabulous school in the heart of the CBD.

High Flyers assembly

It was an absolute delight to welcome back many of our 2025 graduates to the High Flyers assembly on Monday to celebrate their exceptional achievements. The Class of 2025 achieved outstanding results, our highest median ATAR on record, fabulous WAUFP results for many of our international students and many gaining direct entry to university in their preferred course via our APEx or FlexiTrack High Pathway. As you step into the future, may you hold a piece of St. George’s in your heart wherever it may lead you. Forge ferociously ahead to achieve your goals, whatever they may be. Choose the road less travelled and choose to live lives of purpose, generosity and compassion. My hope is that your St George’s education empowers you to make a meaningful and positive difference in the world. As our newest Grammarians, we could not be prouder of you - Congratulations to all of our 2025 graduates who worked hard to achieve their goals. I look forward to hearing of their many adventures at alumni events later in the year.

2026 has not been the start of the school year that I’d imagined as I recover at home from shoulder reconstructive surgery. I have been rather frustrated to say the least not to be at my desk for the excitement of a new school year and to welcome everyone to 2026. I am delighted to report that I will be back on Monday and cannot wait. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and looking forward to being back in the thick of things to commence Week 4!
