Learning in Prep

The Preps have kicked off their exciting new Integrated Studies unit, ‘Our Community Heroes!’ We are so excited to learn more about the wonderful people in our community who help us every day.

We began by exploring what a community is and discussing the people, places and services that make up our community. The students then brainstormed questions they would love to investigate throughout the term.

Over the coming weeks, we are looking forward to welcoming some very special visitors, including police officers, firefighters, nurses, SES workers and paramedics! These visits will give students the opportunity to learn firsthand about the important roles these community heroes play.

Throughout this unit, students will develop an understanding of how community helpers keep us safe, healthy and supported. They will also learn who they can turn to for help and how to keep themselves safe in different situations. Most importantly, we hope to inspire a sense of kindness, responsibility, appreciation and belonging within our community.

We can't wait for all the exciting learning experiences ahead!
