Principals' Page

The sun has started shining, hats are being worn outside and there has been exciting chatter in the classrooms and corridors as the students began their first week of Term 4. What a wonderful way to start the term. As a staff we are looking forward to lots of exciting events throughout the term.
Wild About Art Festival
Our term begins with the excitement of our Wild About Art Festival. Next Thursday from 3:30 - 6:00pm our school will be showcasing the amazing artistic talents of our students. Make sure you read the Art Festival page to find out more information.
That's a Wrap!
Congratulations to Lola Penny for her performance in the production of Find Nemo Jnr. She performed in 12 shows in total with countless amount of costume changes. What an exciting experience for her.
Off to the awards ceremony we go!
Last term we announced that we had been shortlisted for the Outstanding Provision of High-Ability Students through the Victorian Education Excellence Awards (VEEA). After presenting to a panel of four about how our school provides enrichment and extension in a myriad of ways we are excited to announce that we are one of 3 finalists for this award. Staff from our Leadership team as well as LEAP teachers will go to the awards ceremony on Friday 23rd October, eagerly anticipating the outcome. Whatever the outcome we can to congratulate and recognise all our staff for the way they tirelessly work to support our students and for being recognised in this space.
Best wishes but not goodbye!
Another expectant mother starts her maternity leave today, joining the Great Ryrie Primary School Mother's Group. We are excited for Jess Akaruru and her husband Jarryd as they await the arrival of their third child. We wish them all the best as they transition to a family of 5. Knowing Jess, she will adjust to this change in the calm and caring manner that she tackles all things.
As Jess begins her maternity leave we are excited that 2A will continue to have Allyse Brine on a Monday and now also Tuesday and Zara Romanin Wednesday through to Friday.
Warm regards,
Karen Rouda Principal
