In Reading students have been developing their summarising and synthesising skills by identifying key information in texts and combining ideas to deepen understanding. They have focused on short narratives for summarising and are currently exploring synthesising through the class text Weslandia.

Within Numeracy we have revisited addition and subtraction strategies and applied these skills to real-world and financial problem-solving situations. Students are now extending their understanding of fractions by learning to add and subtract fractions with the same or related denominators.

Students have been exploring Australia’s Colonial History, learning about early European settlement and its impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We have link this learning to our writing where students are creating Historical Narratives, using descriptive language, engaging characters, and vivid settings to bring this period of history to life.

Our Classes have been revisiting classroom and school expectations through our Re-Start program. Using our Matrix of Expectations, students have been encouraged to demonstrate our school values of Excellence, Respect, Responsibility, and Care to support a safe, positive, and successful learning environment for all.
