Dear Grade Three Families,Â
Â
We are halfway through Term 2! Our students have been working incredibly hard to complete the first few units of the term, and are beginning their new topics.
Â
📚 In Reading, we have been making text-to-world connections, building links between texts we’ve read and real-life situations and issues affecting our planet. We have looked at pollution, deforestation and the impact that we have made on our planet, finding connections to these issues in the texts that we’ve read and the videos that we’ve watched.Â
Â
✍️ We’ve begun to write Narratives in Writing! Moving on from our Recount writing, we are now learning to become entertaining writers, channelling our creative imaginations and exploring the structure of a story. We will be looking at different styles of narratives, including fairytales, fables, comics, fantasy, sci-fi and mystery!
Â
🔢 In Numeracy, we have become experts on 3D objects, making our own out of matchsticks and paper nets. We will also be exploring different kinds of angles over the next couple of weeks.
Â
🔍 In Inquiry, we are preparing a presentation about a celebration or commemoration of our own choosing. We will do this as a Slides presentation, share this with our classmates at the end of the term, and celebrate our newfound skill of researching a particular celebration or commemoration using ICT.
Â
A few reminders:
Please ensure that your child brings fresh fruit every day!Â
Our current set of homework is due on the 4th of June in Week 7. The expectation is that each student reads for 30 minutes each night, and that it is logged in their Reading Logs. Please remind your child to bring their book satchel in every Friday, for their Reading Logs to be signed by their teacher, and to swap their books for the next week.

The Grade Three Team,
Danielle, Christine, Natasha & Claudia
