This week in STEM, our Year 3 and 4 students have been busy working towards their Sphero Licence, preparing them to confidently and safely use our Sphero robots in upcoming learning experiences.
Sphero is a programmable robotic ball that helps students develop important skills in coding, problem solving, collaboration, and critical thinking through hands on learning. Using the Sphero Play app, students can control the robot, explore movement, speed, direction, and complete engaging challenges that build their understanding of digital technologies.
To earn their licence, students demonstrated that they could use Sphero safely, responsibly, and respectfully, while making strong connections to our school values.
Students showed:• Respect by handling the Spheros carefully, following instructions, and taking care of shared equipment• Responsibility by using the technology appropriately, making safe choices, and working independently when required• Collaboration by supporting peers, taking turns, and working positively as part of a team• Persistence by troubleshooting challenges, learning from mistakes, and continuing to improve their control skills
Completing a Sphero Licence ensures students are ready to participate in future STEM learning with confidence and independence. We are excited to see our Year 3 and 4 students apply their new skills in coding challenges and creative problem solving activities next week.
