Visual Arts Vista – News from the Art Room

Art Competition Excursion on 10 June

A group of OPS students are visiting MUMA (Monash University Museum of Art) for their winning entry to the Ormond PS Song Of Art Competition.  They will get the opportunity to view the current exhibition and participate in an artist-led workshop by Tina Stefanou, titled: A Sonic Record: Who Are We Sharing With? Where Are We Sharing To?  

Students will construct instruments out of upcycled and found objects and then recording a vocal and/or instrumental message to a location of their choosing - be it the moon or somewhere closer to home. 

Foundation Fruit Baskets

Foundation students have enjoyed being 'Colour and Shape detectives' during their art lessons for the past few weeks.  Students have been learning how to use oil pastels by layering and blending and have been learning to identify and draw the colours and shapes of different fruits.  After they complete a variety of fruit or vegetable sketches, they will be cutting their artworks out and arranging them in a fruit basket collage.  I am so looking forward to seeing their finished artworks!

Year 1/2 Lanscape Collages

Ms Dijanesic and I have been so impressed with the time and effort year 1 and 2 students have been putting towards completing their painted paper collages.  After painting and stencilling their own papers, students cut out shapes and layered their artworks to create fabulous landscapes. A selection of their completed artworks have been put up for display in the junior building as well as along the stairs beside 12E -  be sure to come and have a look!
