Counselling Service at OPS

Hello OPS families,

As part of my Monash University placement at Ormond Primary School, I have been working alongside Anna-Marie to establish a counselling service for students. We are pleased to share that this service will commence in the upcoming school term!

Counselling is an opportunity for students to have a safe space to explore their feelings and thoughts. While counsellors do not diagnose mental disorders or give direct advice, they collaborate with clients to develop coping strategies and overcome emotional obstacles.

Counselling is confidential, meaning that what students share is kept private. There are some limits to confidentiality, including when there is a risk of serious harm to the student or others, when disclosure is required by law, or when the student gives permission. To support best practice, I may also consult with a Monash University clinical supervisor in a confidential manner.

At Ormond Primary School, sessions will be free and run every Monday during the next school term. Each session will run for approximately 50 minutes and will take place on school grounds. There is limited availability for this service.

Please use the link below to express you interest in counselling sessions; we are gathering interest so that we can plan effectively.  Confirmation and further consent documentation will be required for sessions to formally commence.

Please note that my placement is currently proposed to end around December 2026, so counselling services will continue only until that time until further notice.
