Storytelling Festival
Running from 18 June to 5 July 2026, the festival spans libraries, local venues, Rippon Lea Estate and cinemas, showcasing storytelling in unexpected and creative forms.
This year’s program leans into live, experimental and performance-based storytelling, alongside conversations with leading writers and historians.
Festival highlights include:
- Plot Twist, where crime writers Gabriel Bergmoser and Laura McCluskey create a brand-new novel live on stage through improv
- Murder in the Mansion at Rippon Lea Estate, an immersive whodunnit paired with high tea
- Dead Comics Society, featuring comedians Andrea Powell and Francis Greenslade reading and performing literary works with a comedic edge
- A comedy show from 95-year-old performer Liz Hicklin, proving storytelling has no age limit
The program also features major literary conversations, including The Shortest History of Australia with Mark McKenna and Jack Latimore, and Writers as Readers, hosted by Benjamin Law.
