Respectful Relationships Rights and Resilience

As part of the Victorian Curriculum, our school will continue delivering the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships (RRRR) program across all year levels. The program supports students to develop the social, emotional and relationship skills that contribute to safe, inclusive and respectful school communities.
The Department of Education has recently updated aspects of the program content to ensure it remains age-appropriate, evidence-based and relevant to the experiences of children and young people today.
For primary school students, topics explored throughout the program may include:
- recognising and managing emotions
- building resilience and confidence
- developing positive friendships and respectful relationships
- inclusion, empathy and kindness
- personal strengths and identity
- problem-solving and conflict resolution
- strategies for responding to bullying or unsafe behaviour
- understanding consent, personal boundaries and help-seeking
challenging gender stereotypes and promoting equality
In the primary years, learning related to gender, identity and positive gender relations is taught in an age-appropriate way and focuses on understanding fairness and equality, respecting differences, challenging harmful stereotypes, promoting inclusion, and developing respectful interactions with others. These discussions are carefully guided by teachers and designed to support students to build empathy, confidence and positive relationships within a safe and supportive learning environment.
All learning activities are developmentally appropriate for each year level and align with the Victorian Curriculum, supporting students’ wellbeing, social development and capacity to build respectful relationships with others.
To ensure families are informed, our teams will communicate with families ahead of upcoming RRRR topics and learning experiences.
As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting students’ social and emotional development, we are currently reviewing our whole-school Social and Emotional Learning program. Further communication and family support resources will be shared next term to provide greater understanding of our approach and the learning taking place across the school.
