Child Safety Review

We recently completed a comprehensive review of our school's child safety practices. This review helps us ensure we are providing a safe, supportive environment for every student. We worked with the Department of Education to examine our child safety policies and practices in detail.
Updated Policies and Procedures
We have reviewed and updated several key documents that explain how we protect children and respond to safety concerns:
- Child Safety & Wellbeing Policy – how we keep children safe
- Child Safety Responding and Reporting Obligations Procedure – what staff must do if they have concerns about a child's safety
- Child Safety Code of Conduct – expectations for staff behaviour and interactions with students
- Complaints Policy – how families can raise concerns or complaints
We have also reviewed our Child Safety Risk Register, which identifies potential safety risks and the strategies we use to reduce them.
All these above policies can be found on our website:

Improvements We've Made
As a result of this review, we have strengthened our practices in several areas:
- Staff and volunteers participate in regular child safety training that clearly outlines professional conduct and expectations in our school.
- Staff collaborate closely to coordinate supports for students, ensuring a consistent and integrated approach.
- The school is actively investing in improving visibility throughout the campus, including sourcing glass doors and window installations to enhance supervision and ensure clear lines of sight in all areas.
- Child safety training sessions are held each year for all staff and child safety is a standing agenda item at our meetings, ensuring child safety remains central to school operations. All casual relief teachers and new staff receive induction that includes child safety expectations.
- A dedicated wellbeing team has been established this year, bringing together our Mental Health in Primary School leader, Disability Inclusion leader, Marrung lead, the respectful relationships leader and the PRIDE ambassador to provide coordinated, holistic support for all students.
What We're Doing Well
The review also confirmed that we have strong systems and practices in place:
- Student voice is meaningfully incorporated into child safety decision-making across the school.
- Child safety is systematically integrated into our daily curriculum and school operations.
- Our internal support structures enable staff to guide students in a well-rounded and holistic way.
- We maintain a proactive and vigilant approach to student safety and wellbeing.
Supporting All Students
Our policies and programs recognise and support the diversity of our school community, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, students from different cultural backgrounds, students with disabilities, students in care, and students who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex or queer (LGBTIQ+).
We Value Your Feedback
If you have any questions about child safety at our school or would like to provide feedback, please don't hesitate to contact us. We are committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment for every student. Joining a School Council sub committee is also a great way to be further involved in reviewing our policies and procedures.
