Japanese

Japanese students have been busy with a variety of learning activities this term.
Year 8 began learning about school life in Japan, which incorporated learning about the Children’s Day festival and Calligraphy. Students showcased their Japanese language skills in a by creating a Vlog to introduce Mater Dei.
Year 9 explored the language associated with meal times and worked hard to consolidate the Hiragana writing skills using Japanese squared paper. To finish off the term, students have been learning the language of cooking and have been creating delicacies in the kitchen! They have made a breakfast of eggs, fried rice balls and miso soup, followed by dumplings, and will finish their term with Maki-zushi.
Year 10 began the term by finishing their tiny Japanese homes before moving on to our Out and About topic. This involved students learning the language of shopping and restaurants, and introduced them to more difficult grammar patterns.
Year 11 demonstrated their skills in speaking and listening for their first Senior Assessment and have been memorising many new kanji in the Senior Course while practising their reading and writing skills. Their enthusiasm for learning new language makes this class extremely enjoyable.
