Dear Families and Carers,
It’s hard to believe we are already in Week 9! The Finchiburras (Kookaburras 00A and Finches 00B) have settled beautifully into classroom routines. As a result, their learning has been progressing quickly, and it has been wonderful to see their growing confidence and independence each day.
In Literacy, we have been focusing on the letters i, n, m, d, and c. Students are continuing to build their phonics knowledge by recognising letter names and sounds and identifying words that begin with these letters.
We have been practising our golden words daily, and it has been fantastic to see students beginning to use both their golden words and CVC vocabulary to build simple sentences. We are very proud of their efforts in writing and sounding out words independently.

In Numeracy, our focus has been on the numbers 7, 8, and 9. Students have explored different ways to represent these numbers and have been developing their counting skills.
We have also been learning about 2D shapes, including their names and properties (such as sides and corners).
Additionally, students explored location and positional language, using vocabulary such as in, on, under, next to, and behind. They especially enjoyed the movement activities, where they practised describing where objects and themselves were located.

This week, we have been celebrating Multicultural Week. Students explored different cultures through food, clothing, and flags, developing an appreciation for the diversity within our community.
We are also very excited as students are currently preparing a performance for the Harmony Day Assembly next Tuesday. We look forward to sharing this special moment with the school community!

Thank you for your continued support. With only one week to go until the end of Term 1, we are incredibly proud of the Finchiburras and all they have achieved so far. It has been a fantastic term, and we look forward to finishing it strong together.
