The end of Term 1 is upon us!
It is pleasing to see the progress that our students are making this year, working alongside their teachers to produce great outcomes. As a learning community, we have certainly set the tone for an very successful 2026!
The 2025 CNPS Annual Report will be presented to school council members at next week's meeting. This is an opportunity for me to share this with families.
Our 2025 performance reflects a strong and positive trajectory across a number of key areas:
Learning:
Teacher judgements indicate high levels of student achievement, with 92.8% of students at or above expected standards in English and 90.4% in Mathematics—both significantly above similar schools and state averages.
NAPLAN results show solid performance in reading, and particularly strong Year 5 numeracy outcomes. Reading growth from Years 3 to 5 is a key strength, with 88.2% of students achieving medium or high growth.
Areas for focus:
Year 3 numeracy proficiency remains an area for continued improvement, with results below similar schools and state benchmarks. Numeracy growth will remain a key priority moving forward.
Wellbeing:
Student voice data is a highlight, with very strong endorsement in sense of connectedness (90.2%) and management of bullying (90.3%), both well above similar schools and state averages. This reflects a positive, inclusive and supportive school culture.
Engagement:
Student attendance remains broadly in line with state averages, with an average of 22.3 absence days per student. Continued focus on attendance and engagement will support improved learning continuity.
Staff and Parent Opinion:
Parent satisfaction remains strong at 86%, comparable with similar schools. Staff climate data (65.6%) indicates an opportunity to further strengthen staff engagement and collective efficacy, which is being addressed through ongoing leadership development and collaborative practices.
Overall, the school is performing strongly in student learning and wellbeing, with clear next steps identified in teaching and learning and staff climate.
Our new 2026 School Council will meet for the first time next Tuesday, 31st March. I am pleased to announce the following office bearers:
Executive Officer - Sue Simadri (Principal)
President - Paola Rojas Silva
Secretary - Kym Goodwin (Business Manager)
DE Members - Jake Uwland (Assistant Principal) & Sean Taylor (Yr 5/6)
Parent Members - Diana & Phoebe Toups Dugas, Bharathy & Ravi Saldhana, Shannan Jones, Eubert Mahofa, Indah Sari, and Berenice L’Olive.
Please reach out to the above parents if you have an item you wish to raise.
Jenny and her team have been busy organising events to celebrate Harmony Week/Day, which began with the Bollywood incursion this morning, a fantastic opportunity for all children to be introduced to vibrant music, culture and dance styles that they may not typically have the chance to explore. Next Tuesday, children can attend school wearing their traditional dress. The day will begin with a whole school assembly, showcasing student and parent performances, followed by a shared lunch. This event is a highlight on our school calendar each year, and I am certain that it will surpass expectations once again!

You may recall that we had a group of Year 2 students visit the SRL site on Heatherton Road last year. They also engaged in some activities with the SRL team onsite at the school, which involved children selecting a name for the tunnel boring machine. I have received the following correspondence from the Suburban Rail Loop Authority:
Clayton North Primary School students chose Belinda McKenzie as the name of one of the SRL East TBMs.
Belinda was really honoured to be named by the students. This is what she said: 'I am so honoured to have been selected to have one of Suburban Rail Loop East’s tunnel boring machines named after me. Being unconventional and breaking new ground has been a bit of a theme in my life but I never imagined that it would lead to recognition on such a grand scale.'

I have received the following correspondence from Sport Star Academy for families who may be interested in having their children participate in after school sport.
Dear Parents,
Sport Star Academy (SSA) is delighted to announce that Sport Star Academy is coming to Clayton North Primary School to run the Soccer & Cricket programs onsite directly after school, on weekends and during the school holidays and we would like to know which days/times are the most convenient for your child(ren).
