WPS Community Children’s Garden

Autumn rain and sunshine have produced a bumper crop of big raspberries and little tomatoes (and weeds!). Plenty to keep us busy and reward us for our efforts.

Yellow – How many yellow veggies can you name?

At the WPS Community Garden we like to grow different produce to what can be bought at the supermarket. This lesson opens students' minds and taste buds to the fact that not all food is as the big multinationals would have us believe. Although students were initially a bit dubious about eating ripe yellow cherry tomatoe, once they tried them, they were as popular as the raspberries (well, nearly).

Plastic punnets – Please drop your old clear plastic berry and tomato punnets to the WPS office so we can reuse them to put our berries and tomatoes in for a safe trip home.

Holiday helpers – If anyone would like to help with a bit of weeding in the garden beds or watering the pot plants over the holidays, please contact me to be put on the Garden Whats app and let other interested parents what you have done, so we don’t double up on work. There’s plenty of free produce available to pick as thanks for your effort.
