Whole School Cross Country

Our Whole School Cross Country is scheduled to take place on Thursday, April 23 (Term 2, Week 1), from approximately 9.10am to recess. All students will compete in our Whole School Cross Country, with Years F-2 running laps of our school oval and Years 3-6 competing in 2km and 3km courses across the road from the school, around the creek near Gilbert Gordon Oval.

Children who are in Year 3-6 who turn 8, 9 or 10 years old in 2026 will run a 2km course and children who turn 11, 12 and 13 years old in 2026 will run a 3km course. Preps will run two laps of the school oval and Year 1 and 2 will run four laps of the school oval.

Students are encouraged to dress in their House colours for this event:

  • Mitchell – Blue

  • Chisholm – Yellow

  • Dryden – Green

  • Ebden – Red

Spectators are welcome at this event:

Prep to Year 2 races: Spectators are welcome to cheer on students from behind the school boundary fence (outside the school), along the footpath near the oval.

Year 3 – 6 races: The fire track, located behind the clubrooms near Gilbert Gordon Oval, is the ideal place for spectators to gather before the races start as students will assemble on the fire track prior to starting their races and will finish in the same area.

The focus of the Cross Country is fun, fitness and building a strong school community and House Team spirit. For students in Years 3 – 6 it is also the selection trial for our District Schools Cross Country Competition, which will be held at Hanging Rock on May 5.
