Foundation Unit

This fortnight, students have continued to practice their letters and sounds and apply them when reading text. We are close to learning all of the individual letter sounds and will continue to progress through them next term.  

In Writing, students have continued to work on sound counts. Students sound out words and record the sounds they hear in the words. This week we have continued writing a simple retell, writing about the beginning, middle and end of the text, using a variety of mentor texts to ensure students are engaged. 

In Maths, we have explored two new topics - shape and pattern. During shape and pattern lessons, students explored different 2D shapes and their features, and created and continued patterns on paper. 

Next term, students will be participating in an incursion during their first week back at school. Students will be planting seeds and will observe and monitor its growth throughout the term. This will be on Wednesday 22nd of April.
