Scienceworks Excursion

Our inquisitive Year 3 and 4 students set off on an exciting adventure to Scienceworks! They explored, tinkered, and discovered the wonders of science in action — from hands-on experiments in Tinker Town to uncovering the secrets of Fantastic Forces, and even racing against Cathy Freeman! The day was filled with curiosity, creativity, and discovery. A big thank-you to all the parent volunteers who joined us and helped make the day a success. Below are some reflections from our budding scientists about their favourite moments!

My first highlight was that I loved the jumping test.

My second highlight was that I definitely liked Tinker Town.

My third highlight was that I obviously liked learning new things

with my group.

My fourth highlight was that I loved learning about how tall I am

(if you are wondering I’m 148cm tall).

My Favorite part of Scienceworks was definitely Tinkertown. It was super fun, everyone had an amazing time. We made a fort made of pillows, it was amazing seeing everyone’s creative ideas. Some people were building cars, some people were building forts and some people were just exploring.

On Thursday the 6th of November MP went to Science Works. My highlight was going to Tinker Town because me, Maple, Harmony, Charlotte, and Charlotte’s Dad built a car and a trailer for it, as well as a puppy fort. The puppy fort was fun to build and tackle each other in! I was the Queen puppy, Harmony was the spy, Charlotte was the servant, and Maple was the Guard dog. The car was hard to build, unfortunately the wheels kept falling OFF, but in the end, it was all worth it! Sadly, we didn’t get to go to the Planetarium, but I bet it would have been LOTS of fun. I love SCIENCEWORKS!!!

When we went to Scienceworks my favourite thing we did was the wheelchair races. I won against Matthew the wheelchair racing champion. This was pretty hard to do because of the person I was versing. All you have to do is move the wheels forward, select a character and your good to go.

Scienceworks was amazing! There were so many things there, like racing against a Cathy Freeman Hollogram and Tinkertown, which is a place where you could build things out of wood planks and wooden poles. I loved going everywhere with my group because I had my best friend Angus in it. I also loved the museum with the telescope and surgery kit. It was so cool! My group and I loved the build your future self room. That room was where you could select items and create a mysterious creature that no one has ever seen! We also loved using forces in the pillow/cubby fort in Tinkertown where you can do so many things. Those forces were a contact force, normal force and gravity! It was so fun!

In Tinkertown we had a girls VS boys fort. The girl’s fort was like a maze. So, we covered some entrances because we kept running into each other. The boys fort had a long entrance. It was small. When it was judged, the girls won. It was a lot of fun.

I carefully put the pillows in the right place so my group could make a teacup puppy castle which is like a cubby house for tiny puppies. When it was time to pack up me and my group ran into the walls of the cubby. The walls came tumbling down. This was gravity in action! Then my class tried to make the tallest tower we could. We were so tired at the end of the day but Scienceworks was the best ever.

We went to Scienceworks, it was AMAZING!!!! My highlight was the view from the bridge on the ride there, it was breathtaking! There was an exhibition on sports and, there was a place where you could race Cathy Freeman. There was a place called Tinkertown where you could make lots of things and, even a castle of pillows! I loved making a fort out of pillows then just destroying it, we made sure no-one was in it first!

My favourite part of Science Works was Tinker town. In Tinker Town there were pillows we could make forts out of. There was also an area where we could make a marble run. Out of Tinkertown there was a bit where you cold race a projection of Cathy Freeman. Science Works was awesome!!
