Dress Up Day

Year 8 Indonesian
Dress Up Day
This semester in Indonesian we have been exploring one of the most central aspects that God has placed within culture and that is family. We have been focusing specifically on relationships, housing, clothing and food, exploring the vibrancy and flavours of Indonesian life!
One of our lessons was set aside for Hari Baju Adat – our Indonesian traditional clothing dress up day! It was so much fun as students wore the traditional kain (sarong skirt), kemeja batik (batik shirts for men), Blangkon (Javanese headgear) Udeng (Balinese headgear), Kebaya (formal blouses for women) and then all that Perhiasan (Jewelry). It was extravagant!
Playing in the background was the gentle rhythm of gamelan and angklung (traditional instruments) as we engaged with traditional Indonesian culture through clothing.
Our students looked just stunning!
