Sovereign Hill excursion

On Friday 14 August, we had a wonderfully engaging day exploring all that Sovereign Hill in Ballarat has to offer. As part of our Humanities studies unit on the Victorian Gold Rush, students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in life on the goldfields. They did this through hands-on activities, historical demonstrations and other engaging tasks. Students panned for gold, dressed up as historical figures from the era, watched gold pours, confectionary demonstrations and so much more. The trip concluded with a lovely dinner at Lazy Moe’s in Ballarat before returning to school. Thank you so much to the parent helpers who came along on the day. You truly helped make the experience so special for the students. It’s a day they will be sure to remember!

Public Speaking & Debating Workshop

27 Year 5 students will participate in a Public Speaking and Debating Workshop on Monday 31 August at Salesian College Chadstone to build confidence, leadership, and communication skills. Facilitated by Salesian College students, the program covers presentation techniques, body language, debating etiquette, and speech writing.

Living Wax Museum

On Friday 11 September, we look forward to having families come and visit the Year 5 Living Wax Museum! Inspired by the famous displays at Madame Tussauds, our students will be creating their own Living Wax Museum as part of our exploration of the Victorian Gold Rush. Students are researching a significant person from the era and using their findings to create an engaging presentation. They will dress as a wax figure of their chosen historical figure and bring their character to life by sharing key facts about their life and contributions during this important period in history. We look forward to sharing this exciting and interactive learning experience with our school community!
