Year 2 Highlight

Our Year 2 students recently enjoyed an exciting and educational Australian Wildlife incursion. A visiting zoologist captivated the students with fascinating facts about a range of unique native animals, including wombats, echidnas, a black-headed python, turtles, sugar gliders, and even an owl.
Students listened attentively as they learned about each animal’s habitat, diet, and special features. They were especially enthusiastic during the question-and-answer session, where they had the opportunity to deepen their understanding by asking thoughtful and curious questions.
One of the highlights of the day was the chance for students to get up close and personal with the animals. Many bravely and respectfully patted some of the creatures, creating memorable, hands-on learning experiences.
Back in the classroom, students used this experience as inspiration for their writing. They each selected their favourite animal from the incursion and created detailed information reports, showcasing both their learning and their growing confidence as writers.
It was a wonderful opportunity to bring learning to life, and the students are to be commended for their curiosity, engagement, and enthusiasm throughout the experience.
