Art & Design

It has been a busy and creative time in both the Art and Design spaces!
Our Year 4 students recently stepped into the senior art room, embracing the opportunity to “wear their high school hats” as they explored screen printing on canvas bags. It was fantastic to see their enthusiasm as they engaged with new processes and equipment in a more advanced setting.
In the senior school, our Year 7 students have been experimenting with oil pastels, producing vibrant and expressive abstract artworks. Their use of colour and texture has resulted in some truly eye-catching pieces.
Our Year 8 students have been working on ceramic pieces, drawing inspiration from the distinctive style of Yayoi Kusama. Exploring pattern, repetition, and form, students are creating playful and imaginative works that reflect Kusama’s iconic use of pattern and bold visual language.
Meanwhile, our Art Club students have been enjoying the freedom to work independently, developing their own ideas and creating a range of thoughtful and impressive artworks.
Design Highlights
Behind the scenes, our Art and Design team, with the valued support of our Duke of Edinburgh volunteers, have been hard at work creating a class set of laser-cut Environmental Design floor plan kits (scale 1:50). These resources will provide students with hands-on, practical experiences in spatial design and model-making.
Our Year 10 Art and Design students have also recently completed their ceramic pots, showcasing their skill development and creativity. The finished pieces reflect both technical growth and individual artistic style.
It’s wonderful to see such creativity, collaboration, and innovation across all year levels.
