Music Matters

Autumn Twilight Concert

We’re looking forward to a wonderful evening of music at our Autumn Twilight Concert on Wednesday 1 April, 6:00pm–8:30pm. With fifteen ensembles - including bands, orchestras and choirs - over 400 students are excited to share their music in this relaxed, community-style event.

Performers can access their schedules via HT Connect. Families are warmly invited to enjoy the performances from the grassy hill on the north side of the Orchestral Room—our very own “Myer Music Bowl”! With the weather forecast looking ideal, it promises to be a lovely indoor/outdoor experience.

Given the number of students involved, the Music Centre will be quite busy. We ask that students arrive at their designated locations on time, and that parents remain on the grassy hill when collecting their children. Thank you for helping us keep the evening running smoothly.

We are delighted to welcome our new Music Administrator, Ms Lynne Langdon, who commenced this week. Lynne joins us from Auckland, New Zealand, where she held Music Administration roles at King’s School and King’s College. All enquiries relating to instrumental music lessons - including enrolments, scheduling and billing - can now be directed to Ms Langdon.

Her email address is llangdon@huntingtower.vic.edu.au or music@huntingtower.vic.edu.au.

We are equally pleased to welcome Ms Hillary Zhou, a former Huntingtower student, who will join our team as a violin teacher from next term.

We are pleased to share that Mr Tom Silvester will be increasing his involvement at Huntingtower, joining us for a third day of teaching. Tom will take on Mei Wah’s ensembles and private students, and we look forward to the continuity and expertise he will bring to these programs.

FAREWELLS

We also share the news that Ms Merewyn Bramble will be stepping away from her violin teaching role at Huntingtower due to increasing professional commitments. Merewyn has had a long and valued association with the school as both a student and teacher, and we thank her sincerely for her contribution over many years.

We are pleased that Merewyn will remain connected with our program through occasional masterclasses and involvement in events such as HOSA Orchestra projects, particularly as we look ahead to our Centenary celebrations next year.

We also farewell Ms Mei Wah Chan, who will soon depart for new adventures and opportunities in France. Mei Wah has been a valued member of our music staff, contributing outstanding leadership across both choral and string ensembles, alongside her work as a private violin teacher. Her passion, energy and commitment will be greatly missed. In recent times, she has also provided invaluable support with music administration, for which we are very grateful. We wish her every success—bon voyage, Mei Wah!
