The Power of Period 6

Meet the 'At Home' Yearbook Committee

We are excited to introduce the 2026 'At Home' Yearbook Committee, led by Mr Connick Cheung and supported by Lisa Fairweather, our Marketing & Communications Officer. With a talented student team of 12, the committee meets every Monday in Period 6 and is already off to a fantastic start.

Across Terms 2 and 3, students will collaborate on all aspects of the yearbook, including content creation, illustration, layout design and photography. Our first two meetings have been full of energy, creativity and collaboration, with students bringing a wealth of ideas to the table.

Keep an eye out around the school because members of the committee may be on the lookout for stories and snapping photos to help capture the moments that will define our 2026 year!

Checkmate Under Pressure: Captains Deliver in Coach’s Absence

With our regular chess coach stranded in the Middle East on his way back to Australia from a chess tournament in Europe, our chess captains Lin Wu and Benny Chan decided to play an impromptu simul during P6 on Thursday this week.

Lin simultaneously played five Year 7 boys (Ari D., Eason Q., Lucas T., Kushil H. and Taviru P.) with Mrs Reynolds, a very interested observer. Benny played against five Year 8 boys (Shawn H., Lachlan C., Amal M., Derek Y. and Alex N.) plus Zichen Z. of Year 5.

Lin won all five games of his games in the allocated hour while Benny won three and was on his way to winning the others if he had more time. Many of the games were very closely contested and it was a wonderful way to start rebuilding our school chess team that is losing six long-serving players at the end of this year.
