BLA Mock Court Competition
On Wednesday 18 May, two teams from St Mary’s (made up of Year 10 EBCC and Year 11 Legal Studies students) attended the Cairns Courthouse to participate in the annual Business Liaison Association (BLA) Mock Court Competition.
This event involved senior school students competing against each other, having legal professionals adjudicate each case. One side acted as the Prosecution and the other as the Defence as they undertook the court trial of a fictitious case. This competition was extremely enjoyable and was an overall beneficial experience as students gained a better understanding of the court system. Many days of preparation and hard work went into getting ready for this competition and we could not have done it without the assistance from our teachers. On behalf of the two teams, I would like to thank the teachers that supported us: Mrs Williams, Mrs Ross and Mrs Marton. We can’t wait to be a part of this event next year!
