Main Campus - Year 4

The last two weeks have been eventful for Year 4 students, as CU3 have returned to the main campus, while CU2 students have transitioned to our Carlsruhe campus. The CU2 students are adapting to the new classroom arrangement and have been shadowing CU1 to gain insights into various new responsibilities. Engaging in maintenance activities has kept them busy during our allocated 'jobs' time, as there is no shortage of tasks. Additionally, students have been sharing and acquiring knowledge on caring for our guinea pigs, chickens and sheep. These experiences have brought a great deal of excitement to everyone involved.

On Friday, we took time out from the classroom to experience The Beat musical concert at Kyneton. We were lucky enough to be seated upstairs in the hall, giving us amazing views of the event.

Here are some excerpts from the reviews the students wrote to describe their experiences at The Beat Concert.

The rhythm was kind of awesome, with kids clapping and chanting, even before the concert began. Violins started playing, so did the drums, then other instruments followed on. Suddenly all the kids sewed their mouths up, listening to the awesome music. They were not only playing music, they were also showing photos of nature, seas and the environment. Then once the lights came on and the sound became silent, people started chanting, applauding and cheering as if their team had won the World Cup.  By Sophia

The lights went down and everyone was silent. I was so excited that I felt like I couldn't watch. As soon as I got comfy, the music started. The screen was making me hypnotised. I looked down at the orchestra and they looked so calm. People were playing violin, drums, harps, electric guitars and there were saxophone clarinets, and best of all a DJ! I felt like my seat was eating me! My favourite bit was when the man that was playing saxophone jumped off the stage and started walking around the kids that went to Sacred Heart (high school). I felt like the floor was vibrating. If I had to say, in short, The Beat Concert was absolutely AMAZING and I wish the whole school was there to enjoy it. I felt I was finally in the galaxy.  By Nyah

After everyone had found their seat and they had finished the maintenance checks for the lights and sounds, the concert started. The man explained how it was kind of like a story about Earth and space and how music has evolved too. After he had explained it, the lights shut off and the drums and singers started to play, as words on the screen read PART 1 -    The beginning/opening. There were lots of different instruments playing like the drums, violin, the harp, saxophones, guitar and the piano. The music was really good and I loved the singing and how the pictures on the screen matched really well with the person talking and the music. The beat concert was good. The only problem was that it was so loud that I thought the roof was going to fall down, but it didn't. There were so many instruments and they worked together and it made such a good sound! The pictures on the projector were transfixing and I loved almost every bit of it. My favourite instrument was the saxophone. By Bernard

Today I saw the most joyful performance in the world! It felt like everyone was watching, The drums set a beat, a tempo like clockwork, the guitarist was a rockstar, the vocalists were a powerhouse crushing the soil beneath the surface with their high pitches. It took us on a journey through the dark ages of time through music.  By Alex Letson

My favourite bit about the beat was how superb the music was. For instance, at the start of the show I was in a trance. The beat was about jumping time from the start of life itself all the way along to 2023 over 4.5 billion years later.  By Knox

The beat was amazing! All the rhythms were perfect and the noise was brilliant! I loved the music and lights, everybody playing there played at least two instruments. As soon as it started I went into a trance! It was sooooo intriguing. When it started it was just little and quiet but it kept getting louder and louder until the room was filled with noise! It was great taking a trip through the depths of time, where music evolved and evolved and evolved and evolved until it was everywhere! I loved when it kept getting louder and louder until it was like a sonic boom!It was spectacular!I want to do it for my excursion every year. By Sam

The instruments stood on the stage. they got ready as they started to play! The beautiful singing started as well as the amazing story in front of my eyes. The story was beautiful. It was about how music came to our wonderful, peaceful world! The singing and music continued. I kept thinking that the two singers sound so similar. It was amazing! I loved ‘The Beat Concert!
