Foundation Unit

Term 2 is continuing to fly on by! We have had lots of sickness in the Foundation team, students and teachers! We hope everyone is on the mend and feeling better soon!

In Reading, we have been focusing on sequencing and summarising, learning to retell stories in order. It is wonderful to see some students have already reached 75 nights of home reading so far this year, with a few students reaching over 100 nights! WOW! Congratulations families, your dedication towards home reading is to be commended!

In Writing, we have been writing letters to characters in our favourite stories and tv shows. We have been making sure our letters introduce who we are, state a fact about ourselves and ask a question. This week we have written letters to residents at Bupa Aged Care in Woodend. You could ask your child to write a letter to a family member!

In Maths, we have been learning about teen numbers. Our focus has been on “ten and ….” to understand that teen numbers are made up of a bundle or tower of ten, then single units. This is our first introduction to number patterns and place value!

Living and Non-Living things has continued to be our focus for Science and Integrated Studies. We have learnt how to tell the difference between living and non-living things and what living things need to survive.
