SMR Swimming Champions!!

On Monday 27 March a team of dedicated swimmers braved the dreary conditions and represented Frankston High School displaying the Optima Semper attitude. There were many placings on the day across numerous events, seeing Frankston High School resoundingly awarded SMR Champions. Fifteen students will now progress to represent our school at the State Swimming Championships on Friday 28 April (Week 1 Term 2).

A special thank you to Mrs Jodie Burton, Ms Kate Burgess and  Mrs Kylie Grech for coordinating and attending with special event.

Frankston High School finished on 547 points, with our nearest rival on 268 points, a big win!

TERM 1 Netball

Our Netballers have reached the end of an excellent term’s training and competition. It has been very rewarding to see how the skills and game play have developed over the season. A big thank you to all our coaches who have led the Semper Squad training sessions and coached teams on Friday evenings whenever they could. They have done a great job, and the Year 9 Team itself has improved enormously. Well done!

We also entered teams at all sections for the Casey Cup on March 28 and had a fantastic day of tough competition, which everyone enjoyed. Juniors made semis, the two Intermediate Teams were in the most challenging division and despite some scintillating netball were unable to qualify for finals against the specialist sports schools and clubs. The Senior Team made it all the way to the Grand Final and were unfortunate to be beaten by only two goals against their sports academy rivals in a really exciting match. Congratulations to everybody who participated, and to coaches Ms Sam Cody, Ms Paige Whitworth and Mrs Zoe Platt.

Thanks also to the Sports Department, Mrs Jodie Burton, Mr Luke Rowe and Mrs Kylie Grech for all their organisation and support throughout the term. We are looking forward to the Winter Season, at Semper Squad, in interschool competition and in the Frankston and District League on Friday nights. This will be a properly competitive season with Divisions, Ladders, Finals and Awards. Thank you to Rae and her team over there. We are still hopeful to soon be in the Stadium at Jubilee Park, and we will continue to do all we can to support the FDNA as they deal with the completion issues.

See you all in Term 2.
