Middle School News/Events

Dear Middle School Parents/Carers and Students

As we approach the Easter break, I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on the first term of the school year and to share some important information with you which is included below.

Overall, it has been an excellent term, and I am proud of the progress that our students have made. They have demonstrated resilience, determination and commitment, and have shown that they are capable of achieving great things. Our staff has worked tirelessly to support and challenge our students, and they have been fantastic role models for our students.

I would like to remind all parents/carers and students about the importance of attendance and punctuality. Regular attendance and arriving on time are critical to success at school. If your child is absent for any reason, please ensure that you notify the school as soon as possible or explain the absence via compass.

Thank you for your continued support of our school community. I wish you all a happy and safe Easter break and look forward to seeing you all back at school for another exciting term.

Ms Leah Hannas

TERM 1 | Student Surveys

Students across Years 7-12 have had the opportunity to complete a Term 1 survey to provide the Year Level Leaders with feedback as to how students are feeling towards school so far this year.

There were statements/questions about teaching & learning, behaviour in the classroom, safety, bullying, wellbeing, events, uniform and opportunities to provide open feedback.

We will be looking at this data as a leadership team to celebrate what is working well, use this feedback to develop a whole school approach to behaviour management, find areas for improvement and opportunities to give students voice and agency at school.

In Term 2 we will also run student focus groups to further unpack the data and develop action plans in response to this feedback to make school a better place for all students.

VICTORIAN YOUNG LEADERS | Leaders Forum

On Wednesday 29 March 16 Year 9 students participated in the Victorian Young Leaders: Global Youth Forum. This was an interactive online learning program for students in Year 9 Victorian schools to connect with peers from a range of schools and countries across the Asia-Pacific including; China, Thailand, Japan, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore and the Philippines.

The forums are designed to deepen student understanding of identity, belonging, culture, globalisation, and what it means to be a global citizen. Throughout the program students engaged in a range of activities and regular breakout rooms in small groups with peers from a range of other schools and countries.

End Of Term Assemblies and Year Level Captains

Thank you to the Senior School Captains who ran Middle School Assemblies on Monday 27 March to pass on important information to students such as the House Point system to launch from Term 2 and other important messages. During this assembly Year 9  and 10 students who have been shortlisted to run for Year Level Captain positions presented a speech in front of their peers on why they should be nominated for the position. All the students spoke extremely well, and we will announce the outcome of Year Level Captains in Term 2.  Well done to all students who have been shortlisted so far and good luck!
