Dear Parents/Carers, Students And Friends
Term 1 | Thank you!
It has been such a busy and rewarding first term of 2023! Thank you to our fantastic parents/carers for all of your efforts working in partnership with us to ensure success for your children. Thank you to our wonderful students for their efforts in and out of the classroom, in making the most of the enormous amount of opportunities for them. Thank you to our outstanding staff for their tireless efforts in guiding the learning and wellbeing of our students. I am really proud to be your Principal, as we have shared many successes and worked through any challenges that have arisen. Please enjoy a relaxing break over the holidays with your family and friends.
NAPLAN
Thank you to Ms Kate Adriaans and Mrs Sue Simadri for their efforts organising NAPLAN this year for our Year 7 and Year 9 students. Thank you also to Mr John Simon and Ms Leah Hannas who were involved in the testing for their respective Year 7 and Year 9 students, along with those teachers supervising the sessions.
Year 7 Meet and Greet
We held our Year 7 Meet and Greet on Monday 27 March. This was a great opportunity to meet our Year 7 parents and further strengthen the vital connection and partnership between school and home. Thank you to Ms Samantha Cody, Ms Catherine Kyriakos, Ms Phoebe Macreadie, Mrs Sharee Dew and Mr John Simon for their efforts organising this event, supported by those staff in attendance including Ms Michelle Beirouti, Ms Heidi Dhiman, Mr Chris Sutcliffe, Mr Mark Quiambao, and Mr Wais Habib.
Parent Student Teacher Conferences
We held our Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences remotely via Microsoft Teams yesterday, Wednesday 5 April. This was a great opportunity for parents/carers to meet the teachers of their children and to hear feedback on how they have gone so far this year. Thank you to Mrs Sue Simadri for her leadership of this opportunity and for all teachers for their efforts during this day and evening.
Year 7 Music Recruitment Evening
On Tuesday 7 March we held our Year 7 Music Recruitment Evening for those interested students and parents. Thank you to Mr Peter Sharp for organising this event, well supported by Mr Ben Braithwaite, Mr Andrew McAdam, Ms Kim Starr, Ms Peta Laughlin, and the rest of the instrumental music team who were in attendance. It was a very engaging evening resulting in a large number of students participating in our wonderful music band program.
Year Level Assemblies
Thank you to Mrs Sarah Bahramis and our Sub-School Teams for their efforts organising these recent assemblies with our SLC students. It was great to celebrate all of the wonderful contributions our students and staff make to our school, and to reflect on the enormous opportunities our students are provided. This is what makes our school so great!
International Women’s Day Forum
On Thursday 16 March, Mrs Sue Simadri and myself attended an International Women’s Day Forum at Carrum Downs Secondary College along with Kelly Gilbert Year 12, Charlotte Swinburne Year 10, and Tyra Gourdouros Year 10. The event was hosted by The Hon. Sonya Kilkenny MP, with the guest speaker being the Deputy Premier, The Hon. Jacinta Allan MP.
School Tours
Bookings are now open for school tours for prospective families. Tours are to be held in the first two weeks of Term 2.
Bookings are essential and can be made via Trybooking.
