Year 11 Psychology Incursion

“Magic! Illusions!

How does our brain play a role in the way we are amazed by such things?

On the 25th of July, the Year 11 Psychology classes were fortunate enough to go back to our childhood roots and attend an incursion in which we watched a magic show by well known professional magician Nicholas J. Johnson (also known as the Honest Conman). This time, as we watched, we looked further into how our brains allow us to experience the wonder of magic. All of us students were both astonished and entertained as he blew our minds and made us laugh all at the same time. It tied in really well with our area of study related to sensation and perception and how these processes occur in our bodies and brains. From disappearing and reappearing objects to predicting all of our answers to his questions, it not only left us with stupid grins in amazement but also enhanced our knowledge of how our brains and senses work.”
