CBCA CHILDREN'S BOOK WEEK

2017 Theme:        Escape to Everywhere           

Each year across Australia, The CBCA (Children’s Book Council of Australia), brings children and books together celebrating CBCA Children’s Book Week. During this time schools, libraries, booksellers, authors, illustrators and children celebrate Australian children's literature and to highlight the importance of Reading.

During this time you will often see libraries creating amazing displays and students eager to read the Winning  Books.

 

The winning titles in each of the categories relevant to our school and available to borrow from our library are:

Older readers 

 

Winner  :   One Would Think the Deep (Claire Zorn, UQP)

Honour books  :   Words in Deep Blue (Cath Crowley, Macmillan) &  The Bone Sparrow (Zana Fraillon, Lothian)

 

Younger readers

Winner   :   Rockhopping (Trace Balla, A&U)

 

Picture book

Winner :   Home in the Rain (Bob Graham, Walker Books)

Honour books  :   Mechanica (Lance Balchin, Five Mile Press)

 

Eve Pownall Award for Information Books

Winner  :   Amazing Animals of Australia’s National Parks (Gina M Newton, NLA Publishing)
