FREMANTLE EISTEDDFOD

Congratulations to all students and tutors involved in the Fremantle Eisteddfod over the last two weeks. Our four Senior School Choirs swept the board and won all their categories, and our Junior School Choir achieved a commendable third place.

It is wonderful to hear about how many All Saints’ College students are giving their best performance and receiving words of praise from their adjudicators in their individual performances. We will acknowledge the achievements of all our students at the next Assembly. To view the results and achievements from the event so far, please visit the Success Stories section of this edition of the Courier.

COLLEGE RECITAL II

Well done to all the students and tutors for their outstanding performance at the College Recital II held on Tuesday, 21 May in the Chapel.

It was wonderful to see the Clarinet ensembles come together in their various groups to showcase their skills. The soloists did an outstanding job in their performances; for some of them, it would have been their first concert performance.

WA YOUTH ORCHESTRA

Well done to Liam O’Keefe (Year 8) and Vevina Yang (Year 9)  for their wonderful performance as members of the WA Youth Orchestra (WAYO) on Saturday, 25 May at the Perth Concert Hall. WAYO’s first concert of the year Spellbound was a musical program that “captures the excitement of a youth orchestra” as the audience was taken “on a journey through some of the most famous mystical and magical themes ever written”.

Works on the program included ‘Devil’s Dance’ from the Witches of Eastwick and the Concert Suite from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, both by John Williams. Also on the program were 'The Noon Witch' by Dvorak and 'Symphonie Fantastique' by Berlioz. Two more concerts will be held by WAYO this year: Jandamarra – Sing for the Country (featuring music by Peter Sculthorpe) in July and The Planets (Gustav Holst) in September.

If anyone is interested in attending these concerts, please email music@allsaints.wa.edu.au for more information.
