HOTHOUSE SOCIAL MEDIA TAKEOVER

The first ever HotHouse Social Media Takeover by Arts Captain Tash Erbrich (Year 12) received an extremely positive response, as followers were exposed to the student perspective of Arts life at All Saints' College.

Students were excited to be involved and have the opportunity to display and provide insights into their work, as Tash took followers behind the scenes to Grease rehearsals, Arts classes and College events.

We plan on making this a recurring event, with members of the Arts Council taking turns sharing their perspective of the Arts with the All Saints' community.

2019 COLLEGE PRODUCTION - GREASE

This year’s College Production is Grease. We decided to perform this musical because of the challenge it poses.

Most of us will be familiar with the story and the songs because of the film with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. Every theatrical performance of Grease seems to have followed exactly the template set out by the film. So, what we are proposing is to bring you an alternative vision that specifically focuses on the original intention of the writers (Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey), who wrote the play as a reaction to conformity.

Not only are we presenting the stage version for you, but we are also creating a documentary on the journey of our process that will outline the rewarding and challenging aspects of creating a production. The documentary will also contextualise our vision.

The students have worked hard at creating an alternative vision and aesthetic while incorporating live streaming into the set. There is much risk involved in our production as we are experimenting with technology that we have not used in this way before, but that is the point of our College Production and what we pride ourselves on. We do not want to recreate what has already been created – what we want to do is offer a unique perspective that you can use to compare with other versions of Grease that you have seen before.

We hope you can come along and support our 2019 College Production. We love seeing you at the performances and – let’s be honest – you have a vital role to play, so please book your tickets as they are selling fast. See you at the end of term!
