ePortfolios

Students in Year 10 now have ownership of their own ePortfolio. The site template has been put together over a number of months and I am excited to see where and how our students can use their ePortfolio.

The benefits and opportunities for students being able to curate their work and develop an online portfolio that showcases who they are and the work they are engaged in are huge! Employers and further study providers are increasingly looking for evidence of the claims a traditional CV makes, the ePortfolio provides a great vehicle for students to own their own site, under the management of the College to demonstrate the work they have been engaged in - both at a curricular and co-curricular level. Importantly, the site they develop can be easily exported and taken with them when they leave the College. It is planned that by the end of 2019 all Year 7 - 10 students will be working on their ePortfolio.

The menu items the students begin with include areas for posts on:

  • Community Service
  • Innovation & Enterprise
  • Projects
  • Teamwork & Leadership

The kind of posts we hope students create will be less about "Today in Maths I..." but about broader learning that comes from a variety of experiences, ongoing project updates, reflections, showcase work, insights gained from leadership opportunities etc.

Far from just a vehicle for the post-school future, we believe that this medium provides students with the perfect platform to demonstrate skills and knowledge so that can apply for positions with The Agency or other leadership and Tour opportunities.

I believe the ePortfolio will grow to be a vital aspect of modern learning in coming years and gives staff and students added flexibility around accessing student work.

Tech Allies

Tech Allies is a new opportunity for students and staff of the College to up-skill in the area of technology. These technology information and help sessions will run every Monday 3:30pm-4:30pm in the Senior School Library.

All ASC Staff and Students in Years 7-12 are invited to attend.

Regular attendance is not required and students are welcome to drop in as often as they like.

These relaxed and friendly sessions will be a great way to learn about Digital Learning Tools,  level up your tech skills and access help.

Please refer to the program (below) to see what is happening & when.
