WPS Community Children’s Garden

Winner, Winner..

I am very excited to announce that we have won a Greater Western Water Thriving Communities Local Community Sponsorship grant of $3780. This funding will cover installation of an automated irrigation system at the Woodend Community Children’s Garden to ease the burden of parents having to water daily, especially over summer holidays.

The garden uses tank water collected from the School building roofs. This new irrigation system will ensure the right amount of water is delivered to the plant roots at the right time of day (eg dawn), which will ultimately make our water usage more efficient and produce more successful crops.

Midland Irrigation will start installing the system mid-August. Keep an eye out for any parent working bees, as help may be required if the funding runs short. Garden Club students will be involved and learn the importance of water conservation and techniques such as how to place drippers.
