Student Learning & Wellbeing Support Team

Welcome back to Term 3

We would like to welcome everyone back to school and wish them a very happy and successful Term 3.

DO YOU HAVE ANY UNWANTED SCHOOL UNIFORM ITEMS THAT ARE IN GOOD CONDITION THAT YOU COULD DONATE?

We are running out of spare clothes for students that fall over during recess and lunch times.  Sometimes children are very wet and cold. We are in particular need of PANTS of all sizes. Donations of near new or new socks would also be greatly appreciated.

*Please note: Socks with holes are not of much help for cold feet.

Any other uniform items would be most appreciated.

Handwriting Development

For children to develop good writing skill they must first develop finger strength and fine motor co-ordination. As aides we are often asked provide assistance to help students develop these skills.  Here are some of the activities we use.

For finger and thumb strength-

  • Playing with playdough
  • Cutting playdough with scissors
  • Squeezing a soft ball as many times as possible in a minute
  • Picking up pom poms with tongs
  • Using a spray bottle

For fine motor co-ordination-

  • Threading beads on a string or pipe cleaner
  • Peeling and sticking small stickers
  • Using scissors
  • Writing (with a finger) in finger paint or shaving cream
  • Completing mazes
