Carlsruhe Annexe /

Main Campus - Year 4

Thank you to the families who took such special care of our animals over the holidays. By all accounts, there was plenty of fun to be had, cuddles to be shared, and thankfully, reports of generally good behaviour from our animals.

We have been delighted with the positive approach and enthusiasm the Year 4 students have displayed on returning to school for Term 3. The excited chatter, sharing of holiday experiences and smiling faces were wonderful to see.

Towards the end of Term 2, we put in an application to the Trees For Schools Program for some young saplings to enable us to replace the trees that we have unfortunately lost over the past few years. We are happy to announce that our bid was successful and in a few week's time, we will be receiving approximately 20 trees. When they arrive, we will arrange a date for all of the Year 4 students to have a day at Carlsruhe to be part of the planting process. Hopefully, as they mature, they will create more shaded areas around our campus for the students to enjoy, as well as provide much-needed natural habitat for native animals.

Important Dates:

Week 2 of this term will see us begin the next round of Thursday Activities for CU1 and CU2, which will run through to week 7. If you are available to help supervise one of the activities, please let your child’s teacher or your class rep know. The activities will include; cooking, quilling, gardening, woodwork, weaving and a science investigation. We need 6 to 7 helpers to run these effectively.

Monday 28th August.

This is the date for the final rotation changeover of the year. CU1 will begin their time at the main campus, while CU3 will return to Carlsruhe for the remainder of the year. CU2 will stay in their classroom at Carlsruhe.

Tuesday 12th September.

On this date all Year 4 students will be out at Carlsruhe for the day to be involved in a River Detectives incursion. During the day students will complete a range of scientific tests to identify the quality of water at our allocated Campaspe River site. Students will also use diagrams and charts to investigate and identify the different types of macroinvertebrates (minibeasts) present in the river water and use these results to level the water quality. This information will be added to the River Detectives database as part of our ongoing data analysis.
