From the Year 6 Classroom

It’s been a busy and exciting start to Term 3 in Year 6, with plenty of learning and memorable moments to share!
Literacy
In Literacy, students are continuing their novel study on ‘Once’ by Morris Gleitzman. This powerful story is prompting some deep thinking and discussion, and students are also developing the important skill of notetaking in preparation for their upcoming information report on Poland.
Mathematics
In Maths, our focus on Patterns and Algebra has encouraged students to identify and extend number sequences and apply logical reasoning to more complex problems. It’s been wonderful to see their confidence grow throughout the unit. Next, we will be consolidating our earlier learning on fractions—revisiting key concepts such as equivalence, simplifying, and applying fractions in real-world contexts.
Inquiry – Systems of Government
In Inquiry, we’ve launched our new unit on the Systems of Government in Australia. We’re exploring how our government works, the roles of different branches, and the importance of democratic values.
Religion
Our Year 6 students have been exploring ‘God’s Image’ through their Religious Education learning. In this unit, the students explore their identity and sense of belonging as developing young people and members of the Church community.
