Co-curricular - Senior Sport

Welcome back to Term 4.

The RHBL Baseball season is in full swing with the boys having played a number of fixtures at the end of last term. The NDJCA Cricket season and Golf season commences this Saturday with their first round of fixtures. The ISA Opens Cricket season and ISA Touch Football season will begin next Saturday 21 October. Good luck to the First V Basketball team who will take part in the ISA Pre-Season Tournament at Blue Mountains Grammar School this Saturday. All other Basketball teams will start their ISA season next Saturday 21 October.

Please note that the Summer Sport Training Schedules for the 2023/2024 Season are now available to view via the SPC App. By the commencement of next week, you will be able to view a draft copy of the Summer Season Draws via the SPC App or the College website under the ‘Sporting’ page. Please note, times and venues are subject to change right up to hours before the scheduled fixtures take place. This is for a variety of reasons, not least of all the weather. It is also important to note that TBC is not to be interpreted as being a Bye.

I wish to also clarify to all families how to find addresses of ground locations for Saturday’s fixtures. When viewing fixtures on the College website, venues will be displayed in blue writing which is hyperlinked to the location of all grounds. Simply click on the hyperlink and you will be directed to a Google map with the grounds location. This is the same if viewing the fixtures document on the SPC App

Winter Season Reports

A reminder that the End of Season Reports for Rugby, Football and Tennis have been published via the SPC App and are available to view by clicking on the “Co-curricular” tab and then selecting the relevant sport.

SPC APP

I wish to emphasise the importance and need for the community to download the College app to ensure you are up to date with all relevant co-curricular sport items.

To ensure you are only receiving notifications which are relevant to you or your son, on the home page of the app click the ‘settings’ button on the bottom right corner, then select the ‘subscriptions’ option. Here you can select the ‘Co-curricular’ activities which you wish to subscribe to.

Opens Cricket – Holiday Fixtures

The commencement of the 2023/2024 Opens Cricket schedule occurred during the recent holiday period. The First XI was successful in 3 of their 4 fixtures with victories in the Berg-Murphy Shield fixture against Waverley College, Knox Grammar School and Sydney Grammar School. Unfortunately, the boys were defeated in an entertaining game against Trinity Grammar School.

The Second XI were narrowly defeated in their fixture against Trinity Grammar School and were outclassed in their game against Sydney Grammar School.

There were a number of strong performances with both bat and ball. Alexander Au-Yeung, Luke Hill and Matthew Plunkett, Charlie Gray, and William Allen all recorded half-centuries with the bat while Luke Hill (including a hat-trick) and Anthony Karnaout captured 5 wicket hauls.
