Junior School

Welcome Back to Term 4

On behalf of the Junior School team, I hope that all students, parents/carers and extended family enjoyed a safe and relaxing holiday break. It was wonderful to see so many smiling and eager faces charge through the College gates on Tuesday morning as the boys donned their Summer uniform for the first time since Term 1.

With numerous events scheduled for Term 4, it promises to be a jam-packed and exciting final quarter of the year, full of enriching learning experiences and opportunities for students to hopefully make the most of.

In light of this, parents are reminded of the importance of regularly checking the College calendar this term, in conjunction with the notifications highlighted through the SPC App, as the final nine weeks of the school year are sure to be an incredibly busy yet rewarding period of time for our boys.

I would like to remind all students of a famous quote regularly used by American author, Jim George, who emphasises the importance of finishing the year off on the right note: “You are not remembered for how you start the year; instead it is for how you finish it.”

As a cohort, the Junior School boys have enjoyed an excellent year thus far and all students are strongly encouraged to continue working hard and to remain focused in class for the final stretch of the 2023 school year.

Our staff are very much looking forward to seeing the way in which the boys continue to challenge themselves to reach their full potential and demonstrate their best effort both within and outside of the classroom, as each student hopefully continues to flourish in all aspects of their education in the Junior School.

Staffing Update

This term, we welcome Mr Robin Jeffery to the Junior School in his role as our Learning Support Teacher. We thank Mr Mark Leary for his contribution to this position during Term 3 as he now transitions to leading 5 Red as their classroom teacher (Tuesday - Friday), while Mrs Jacinta Young is on maternity leave. We wish both Mr Jeffery and Mr Leary all the very best in their new roles until the end of the year.

Congratulations

During the recent holiday break, Samuel Crisafulli (6 Green) performed in a production of Luigi Pirandello's Italian play titled La Giara which was held at the Italian Forum in Leichhardt. The play was also directed by Samuel’s uncle, Santo Crisafulli, and has received some excellent critical reviews. By all reports received, Samuel performed extremely well throughout the production and will no doubt be receiving some lucrative offers from Hollywood in the near future!
