Pakenham Secondary College relies on the generous voluntary contributions from our community to provide the best possible education and support for our students. These contributions assist in funding curriculum programs, vital school services and resources and help sustain our extended learning and co-curricular opportunities.

Road Repairs at Entrance to Pakenham Secondary College

Further to our recent post regarding traffic around the College and concerns raised about the condition of the roadway at the entrance to the school, particularly the potholes, we are pleased to provide an update to our College community.

We have been in communication with our local State Member for Pakenham, Emma Vulin MP, who has been advocating on behalf of our College with the relevant Minister and VicRoads to have these concerns addressed.

We are very pleased to advise that Ms Vulin has received confirmation from the Minister’s office that pothole patching works outside Pakenham Secondary College have now been scheduled and are expected to be completed by the end of August.

In addition, permanent pavement repairs have been prioritised and are anticipated to be completed by the end of November.

We sincerely thank Emma Vulin MP for her support of our College community and for her assistance and advocacy in helping to achieve a positive outcome on this important issue.

We will continue to keep our families updated as these works progress.

Student Leadership Applications for 2027 positions

IMPORTANT NOTE: Friday, 28th August at 6pm is the final day for submitting applications for Student Leadership positions for Year 12 2027.

Applications for all other student leadership year levels in 2027 are due on Friday, 18th September at 6pm.

Scam Awareness Week - Build your child's critical thinking skills

This week is Scam Awareness Week, a time to encourage your child to be alert to scams, online manipulation, misinformation and AI generated content by remembering to stop, think and check:

Encourage your child to pause before clicking a link, sharing personal information, sending money, or responding to unexpected messages. Scammers often rely on people acting quickly without thinking.

Help your child consider who sent the message, why they are contacting them, and whether they may be trying to create urgency, fear or excitement to influence their decisions.

Show your child how to verify information by checking trusted sources, confirming requests through official channels, and looking for signs that a message, profile, image or offer may not be genuine. You can also remind them that it’s always okay to ask you or another trusted adult if they’re unsure about a message, offer or request.

For additional support, the Australian Communications and Media Authority provides information on identifying phone and SMS scams, reducing spam, understanding telemarketing rules and reporting unwanted communications.
