Term 3, Week 8
Welcome back to the Grade 1/2 page!
We had an awesome day at the Melbourne Zoo on Monday. A big thank you to Mrs Rodda for all her organisation and preparation to help ensure the day ran smoothly. We would also like to extend a special thank you to our amazing parent helpers, who gave up their time to support us throughout the day. We really appreciate your help!

Literacy
During Weeks 9 and 10, students will be exploring a range of animal information texts in Reading and Writing. They will learn how to tell the difference between fact and fiction, practise finding and recording important information, and then use what they have learnt to create their own information report.
Mathematics
Over the next two weeks, we will be learning about location and developing our map-reading skills. Students will learn how to understand the different features of a map and use simple directions to find their way from one place to another.
Topic
In Week 7, we wrapped up our Celebrating Differences topic. Over the final weeks of term, students will be learning about living things, including what they need to survive, how we can group different animals, and the habitats where they live.
In Respectful Relationships, students will explore situations that can make them feel angry and learn strategies to help them manage their emotions and respond in positive ways.

Friday 30th October will be our annual ‘Be Awesome Day’! This year, our awesome kids will be running a ‘Show Day’ as part of our celebrations and we welcome you to join in the fun! To make our day as awesome and fun as possible, we will need lots of help from our wonderful parent community.
We would love donations of some of the following items. (You don’t need to donate to your child’s class necessarily, you’re welcome to donate to any of the classes listed below).
