A Reminder on Morning Routines

As we settle into the term, a friendly reminder that students are expected in homeroom by 8:45am, in full school uniform. We know the mornings have been chilly, but please ensure students are correctly attired unless a note has been provided — this helps us keep things consistent and fair for everyone. Arriving on time and in uniform sets a great tone for the day, helping students feel settled, organised, and ready to learn.

We'd also love your help checking in with your child on their school supplies — a quick look through pencil cases at home to see if pens, glue sticks, or other resources need restocking would be a big help in keeping the classroom running smoothly.

Year 8 Humanities 

In Year 8 Humanities, we have begun our new unit on Geography. Students have been exploring the fascinating world of landforms and landscapes. Throughout the unit, students have been learning about a variety of landscapes, including rainforests, deserts, and mountains, while investigating the unique features that make each environment special.

Students have also been learning about the natural processes that shape our landscapes, including weathering, erosion, and deposition. Through discussions and inquiry-based learning, students are developing an understanding of how these processes continually change and influence the Earth's surface. Looking forward we will be studying urbanisation and how Australia can manage its urban future. 

A Fantastic Term for Our Music Program

It has been another fantastic term for the Saltwater P–9 College Music Program, with all four of our bands continuing to make excellent progress. Students have shown tremendous commitment in rehearsals, and it has been wonderful to see their confidence, musicianship and teamwork continue to grow. The standard across all ensembles is stronger than ever, and we are excited to showcase their hard work in upcoming performances. On a personal note, I was incredibly honoured to receive the Outstanding Contribution Award from the University of Melbourne's Faculty of Education. This recognition reflects not only my passion for music education but also the amazing students, staff and families who continue to support and believe in our program. It is a privilege to lead such a dedicated and enthusiastic community.

Looking ahead, we are all eagerly anticipating our move into the College's new learning spaces. The new facilities look absolutely outstanding and will provide exciting opportunities to further expand and enhance our music program. With purpose-built spaces and improved resources, we are looking forward to offering even more performance opportunities and continuing to build a vibrant culture of music at Saltwater.
