The Colour Run was once again a most fabulous, hilarious, crazy, fun day! These memories we make together last a lifetime and I am so grateful to our Hillsmeade families for your generous donations and preparation. We will be able to share our final fundraising amount once the online system closes Friday night, but for now, so far, we are very excited to say we have reached the total required to build a brand new sandpit for our students!!
A huge shout out to Assistant Principal Paul Hill for his organisation. Without his hard work and preparation this event would not take place.
Make sure you check out the photos in the newsletter to see all the mess and fun we had!
Thankfully the weather held out and we had a lovely morning celebrating the special people in our lives. There were lots of snacks on offer and it was wonderful to see so many people out and about playing games and enjoying this special time together.
Thank you to all the staff that attended and assisted in setting up and providing the delicious treats to our families.
Our Year 4 team had a brilliant time at camp last week. The weather held out and they were able to enjoy some challenging and exciting activities. I know how much they all loved climbing the big hill everyday too! By all reports there was not much sleep on night one, but it was a much quieter experience for night two!! Thanks to all staff that attended, giving up time to be away from their families to enable such an event to take place!
Last week our Year 5 students had a terrific experience when they visited Sovereign Hill in Ballarat, to bring to life what they have been learning about in Australian history lessons. It was an early start with a 7.30am departure and a late arrival home, close to 7.00pm, but it was an experience they will never forget! Make sure you ask them all about it if you see a Year 5 student around the school!
Just a reminder that the last day of Term 3 is Friday 20th September. School will finish early this day at 2.30pm. OSHC will be available from that time.
As per previous years, families have the opportunity to place a request for their child's class placement in 2025. All requests must be in writing via email to hillsmeade.ps@education.vic.gov.au and addressed to Linda Buckeridge by 11th October 2024. Requests are to be based on student learning needs. Please be assured that all requests will be considered however, they are not guaranteed.
I will be on leave for the first four days of Term 4, with Paul Hill stepping into the Acting Principal role for this time.
As per our last newsletter, I have kept these upcoming dates in my news so that families can be well prepared and organised, in what I'm sure will be a busy term for everyone!
A reminder to check the Compass calendar for all upcoming school events, including year level activities and whole school organisation.
