Library

The library continues to be a busy and vibrant space enjoyed by primary and secondary students alike.
The highlight of this term so far has been the Scholastic Book Fair. It was hugely successful, our best year yet! Our library was transformed into a Book Fair Garden with lots of greenery, flowers and bugs. We invited our families to attend after school sessions to help us to Grow Readers. I hope some of you managed to Catch the Reading Bug. We ran door prizes each day and a “guess the number of reading worms in the jar” competition.
Many thanks to the families and students that supported our Book Fair. Because of this we have been able to purchase many new books for our students.
We have also recently celebrated Read More in May month and National Reconciliation Week. The whole of the Primary school gathered to listen to this year’s National Simultaneous Story, Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller.
In the library we are constantly re-working and changing things around to make them as accessible and useable as possible. One example of this is our newly created First Nations section where we have bought together many of our books from around the library and shelved them together to make them easier to find.
Students at lunch and recess are enjoying playing card and board games and completing craft and other activities provided by library staff. The Community Jigsaw puzzle is back out too, now that the weather is getting colder.
Keep an eye on the “New Books” stand for what is coming. Now that we have “shopped” at Book Fair we are busy getting the books ready for you to borrow.
